This next poem takes the structured form of a sonnet. This poet, both a writer and artist, was an important figure in the Harlem Renaissance. Crocuses are still awhile off around here. Happy reading!
“Some things are very dear to me –
Such things as flowers bathed by rain
Or patterns traced upon the sea
Or crocuses where snow has lain …”
