Travels with Amy: Professors, YouTube & Botanical Gardens

THIS JUST IN:I didn't realize that my event next week on 9/22 at Frost Middle School in Fairfax is open to the public. There will be books sold there too by the Fall for the Book Festival. Hope to see you!First off, congrats to Kristen at Bookworming in the 21st Century who won the copy of Denise Jaden's Losing Faith in my giveaway. Check out her blog; it's awesome! Also, I have some very exciting appearances in the D.C. and Baltimore area coming up over the next few weekends.  Hope to see you!!I had a wonderful time in the Chicago/ South Bend area and wanted to share the highlights:1) Former professors who came to see me at the Hammes Notre Dame bookstore and buy a book. I was so thrilled to see three of my professors who are still teaching and writing there. One of them even gave me a great concept for a new novel and started those fictional wheels spinning. Thanks so much, Dr. Crowe!! I have lots of fun research to do over the next few months .... As I always say, listen to the universe. It's usually trying to tell you something, although it's not usually this direct. While at Notre Dame, I also got to hang out with my buddy, Suz -- now a most impressive professor and counselor herself  --and her fun family.2)  My author visit to Summer's Stories in Kendallville, IN. Summer is so sweet and has an amazing collection; she even posted pictures of the signing on her site. Kristi, aka The Story Siren, came and posted this video of me making a tussie-mussie.  We had a great evening. Here's a shot of Summer and me:

3)  Seeing Amish horse-drawn buggies lined up in a Pizza Hut parking lot in La Grange, IN. I wish I'd stopped to take a picture, but it was getting dark.4)  My signing at The Book Stall in Winnetka. This is a wonderful indie bookstore, and I had old friends and new ones in the audience, including Miss Kelley of  WhatMissKelleyisReading. Best of all, I got to give the tussie-mussie I made to a girl who had just turned 13! Happy b-day.5)  Wandering around the Chicago Botanic Gardens. Just lovely, although I would have liked for my husband to stroll with me. There was a wedding going on, and so many couples hand in hand. Here's a little floral eye-candy from Chicago:
